Getting Started
1. What is El Luchador and how it works
An AI assistant integrated into Chrome that helps you understand any webpage
What does it do?
El Luchador reads the content of webpages you visit and offers 4 main functions: Summarize, Explain, Analyze, and Translate. You can also import custom GPTs for specific functions.
How it works
- Browse to any webpage
- Open El Luchador
- Choose a function (Summarize, Explain, etc.)
- El Luchador processes the content using your OpenAI API
- Receive the response instantly
Important: El Luchador only accesses content when you request it. Uses basic Chrome permissions to read webpages.
2. Requirements to use El Luchador
- Browser: Google Chrome 114 or higher
- System: Windows, Mac, Linux, or ChromeOS
- Internet: Stable connection
- API Key: OpenAI account with valid API key
First Steps
3. Install the extension
- Go to Chrome Web Store and search for “El Luchador Sidebar AI”
- Click “Add to Chrome”
- Pin the extension by clicking the puzzle icon
- Press El Luchador icon to open it
4. Set up your API key
Get OpenAI API Key
- Go to platform.openai.com/api-keys
- Sign in or create an account
- Create a new API key
- Copy the key (starts with “sk-“)
Configure in El Luchador
- Open El Luchador → Settings (gear icon)
- Paste your API key in the corresponding field
- Select a model (we recommend GPT-4o)
- Save changes
- Test with “Summarize” on any page

- Click “Explain” in El Luchador
- Get an explanation in simple terms

How to use
- Open a page with charts or data
- Enable “Vision Analysis” in settings if you need visual analysis
- Click “Analyze” in El Luchador

9. Privacy control
- El Luchador only accesses the current tab when you activate it
- No automatic background processing
- You can pause or close El Luchador anytime
- Each response indicates what content was processed

10. Import GPTs from ChatGPT
Leverage specialized GPTs from the ChatGPT store.
Steps
- Visit chatgpt.com/gpts
- Find a GPT that interests you
- Copy the GPT page link
- In El Luchador: Power Up → “+” button → paste the link
- Save and use it on any webpage
Auto-capture: If you’re viewing a GPT in ChatGPT, you can use the “+” button in El Luchador to capture it automatically.

Turn any educational page into interactive lessons with practical exercises.
For financial analysis
Use GPTs specialized in trading and cryptocurrencies for deeper chart analysis.

12. Create your own Power Ups
Create custom instructions for specific analysis.
Example: “Website Review”
Power Up → Pencil → Add manual
- Name: “Website Review”
- Instructions: “Analyze this webpage and suggest 3 design improvements, 2 UX issues you found, and 2 things that work well”
- Icon: Any emoji or icon

- Edit: Click the pencil next to the Power Up
- Delete: Click the red X
- History: View previous responses

Privacy and Security
14. Your privacy is protected
Key principles
- Local only: All your settings are saved in your browser
- Your own API: You use your OpenAI account directly
- No our servers: We don’t send your data to our servers
- On-demand only: We process content only when you request it

- Visible text from the current page (when you activate a function)

- Page images (only if you enable Vision Analysis)

16. Settings backup
You can export all your settings and Power Ups as a backup file.
Export
Settings → “Export” → download JSON file
Import
Settings → “Import” → select JSON file
Includes: Settings, Power Ups, preferences
Doesn’t include: API keys (for security)
Troubleshooting
17. Most common errors
Error 401 – Invalid API Key
- Verify the API key is correct
- Make sure there are no extra spaces
- Check the key hasn’t expired
Error 429 – Rate limit exceeded
- You’ve used too many queries too quickly
- Wait a few minutes before trying again
- Check your OpenAI plan
Error 404 – Model not found
- The selected model isn’t available in your account
- Switch to GPT-3.5 Turbo or GPT-4o
18. El Luchador doesn’t respond
Quick fix
- Close El Luchador
- Reload the page (F5)
- Open El Luchador again
- Try again

19. Optimize token usage
To reduce costs on your OpenAI account:
- Use GPT-3.5 Turbo for simple tasks (cheaper)
- Disable Deep Scraping if you don’t need analysis of very long pages
- Use Vision Analysis only when you need to analyze images or charts
Approximate usage
- Summarize normal page: ~500-1,000 tokens
- Deep analysis: ~1,500-3,000 tokens
- Vision Analysis: ~2,000-4,000 tokens
